Pay Attention!

I have often watched people talking or texting on their phone while walking, or wearing earphones while jogging. Many of us multitask in one way or another, and most of us multitask in several ways. We rerun a conversation in our heads while driving, or plan what we want to say at tomorrow’s meeting while doing the dishes. We lead busy lives, and we feel that the more we can accomplish at once, the better. This, however, can get in the way of receiving messages from Spirit, messages intended to support us in our daily lives.

Spirit’s messages are frequent, subtle, and easy to miss unless we are focused on the moment at hand. Often nature or animals are used to communicate with us. We may see something out of the ordinary, such as a nocturnal animal out and about during the day. Or an animal, plant, or color may appear repeatedly. If you have been attracted to pink geraniums in various yards as you drive down the street, and then read a book with a character named Geranium, it’s time to pay attention!

Realizing that we are being sent a message of support from the spirit realm is the first step. The Jwalan Muktika School Library has books to help us decipher the messages once we are aware of them. The books Animal-Wise and Animal Speak, by Ted Andrews, are helpful references for looking up specific animals and their common lessons. Our library also has Find Your Spirit Animals, by David Carson, and The Magic of Flowers, by Tess Whitehurst.

Really paying attention to what is in front of us in each moment helps to put us in receiving mode for the messages intended for us.
