Flathead Valley

The Flathead Valley is situated just west of the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains amid the Swan, Mission, Salish and Whitefish Mountain Ranges. The valley is named after its original inhabitants, the Flathead Indian Tribe. The presence of native American Indian tribes in the area can be traced back some 14,000 years. The 2010 census counted approximately 91,000 people living in Flathead County. Kalispell, Montana: Kalispell, situated in the middle of the Flathead Valley is the county seat of Flathead County. With a population of 21,000 people, Kalispell is the largest city and commercial center in northwest Montana. A drive through the downtown area reveals an old west heritage with many brick buildings pre-dating the 20th.

 

Glacier National Park

Called the “Crown of the Continent,” Glacier National Park, which is only 25 miles from the school, has 730 miles of highly scenic hiking trails with incredible views of unparalleled natural beauty. The trails vary in difficulty from flat and easy to steep and challenging. A variety of wildlife can be viewed from the trails including moose, elk, deer, mountain goats, black bears, grizzly bears and bighorn sheep. The park has 131 named lakes that reflect snow capped peaks and active glaciers. On any given summer day one will see a steady stream of vehicles topped with kayaks entering and leaving the park.

 

Glacier Park International Airport

Glacier Park Airport is served by Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines, Allegiant Air and United Express.
